T-Mobile is selling a better Nest Secure bundle with cellular backup

T-Mobile announced today that it’ll be offering a new bundle for Nest’s Secure home security system with cellular backup (which is provided by T-Mobile, of course), and it looks like that might actually be a better deal than Nest’s own offering.

T-Mobile’s bundle costs $240 down and $10 per month for 24 months on T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan (for a total of $480) for the hardware. In addition to including the same gear as Nest’s $499 bundle — which includes the Nest Guard base, two Nest Detects, and two Nest Tags — for less money overall, T-Mobile is also including a Nest Cam indoor security camera, which usually costs $199 on its own.

The real cost of T-Mobile’s plan is that you have to also pay a $10 monthly service fee (after a $5 bill credit) on top of that $10 monthly hardware payment, which includes the cellular backup service and Nest Aware service. But given that Nest Aware costs $10 on its own and the T-Mobile backup runs for $5 per month, assuming you want both of those services, you’re coming out ahead.

The T-Mobile Nest Security Pack will be available on November 10th.
