Nintendo is releasing a gold and red Famicom Mini in Japan that comes preloaded with 20 games that are based on manga, as spotted by Kotaku. The Famicom is the original Japanese version of the NES, first released in 1983. The news today comes along with the announcement that the NES Classic will be back in stock on June 29th.
The special edition of the Family Computer will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which prints beloved serial manga titles like One Piece and Boruto, the sequel to Naruto. Some of the preloaded games include Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and Fist of the North Star. Most of these are very old school, from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The console is set to cost ¥7,980 ($72.80).
Nintendo released a Famicom Mini back in 2016 that largely had the same games as the NES Classic. The console was preloaded with 8-bit games and used controllers hardwired to the console.
The special edition Famicom Mini comes to Japan on July 7th. Overseas fans will have to forage through eBay or get someone to ship it to them from Japan.
