LVL, a new fitness tracker that just launched on Kickstarter, seems a lot like any other wearable. It can measure your heart rate, track your sleep cycle, and monitor your caloric intake. But its main function is measuring hydration levels, and letting you know when you need to stop jogging with a mouthful of salt and drink some water.
The wearable uses a near-infrared light to measure your hydration levels, according to Business Insider, and will vibrate when those levels get too low. It's paired with an app that will show you a happy face if you're hydrated and a sad face if you're not, and give you curiously specific instructions about how many ounces of water you should drink at any given time.
